The TCNJ Cares program has established a multi-disciplinary CARE Team to receive student referrals in order to identify and enact appropriate strategies for addressing their unique needs.
This is a campus-wide team that meets monthly to review non-emergent student cases related to social, mental health, academic, behavioral, and/or a combination of these concerns. The team includes representatives from:
- Dean of Students Office
- Student Health Services
- Mental Health Services
- Residential Education and Housing
- Campus Police Services
- Accessibility Resource Center (ARC)
- Student Conduct
- The Center for Student Success (CSS)
- Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Program
- Academic Affairs
- Records and Registration
Other members may be added at the discretion of the Dean of Students Office.
Through collaboration and coordination of resources, the CARE Team seeks to foster academic and personal success for students. As a result, the CARE Team collects information on observable behaviors such as:
- Unusual or erratic behavior
- Extended absence from class without explanation
- Changes to typical behavior (e.g. sudden disengagement, changes to hygiene, etc)
- Comments or submitted assignments containing concerning themes or references
- Basic needs insecurity such as food or housing concerns
