In addition to the CARE Team, the College has established the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) which seeks to identify early indicators of escalating or concerning behaviors and whose duties involve gathering data from individuals and the community; analyzing said data using objective tools and assessments; and intervening and following up based on the level of risk resulting from the assessment process.
Mission:
BIT is a campus-wide team consisting of faculty and staff responsible for identifying, assessing, and responding to concerns and/or disruptive behaviors by students and community members (not faculty or staff) who struggle academically, emotionally, or psychologically; or those who present a risk to the health or safety of the College or its members.
Members: BIT consists of the following voting members:
- Chair, Associate Dean of Students
- Chief of Campus Police Services
- Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs & Dean of Students
- Assistant Vice President, Counseling & Prevention Services
- Assistant Vice President, Student Services
- Academic Dean
- Director of Student Conduct
- Director of Accessibility Resource Center (ARC)
- Non-voting Representative from the Office of the General Counsel
Other members may be added at the discretion of the Associate Dean of Students
BIT Ad-hoc:
This committee is an Ad-hoc committee who will be charged with reviewing, voting, and making recommendations regarding presidential tuition credit and retroactive withdrawal appeals.
